Resistor Color Code Guide
4-Band Resistors
Most common type with ±5% or ±10% tolerance:
- • 1st Band: First digit
- • 2nd Band: Second digit
- • 3rd Band: Multiplier (number of zeros)
- • 4th Band: Tolerance (±%)
5-Band Resistors
Precision resistors with ±1% or ±2% tolerance:
- • 1st Band: First digit
- • 2nd Band: Second digit
- • 3rd Band: Third digit
- • 4th Band: Multiplier (number of zeros)
- • 5th Band: Tolerance (±%)
Reading Direction: Always read resistor colors from left to right, starting from the end with bands closer together. The tolerance band is usually separated by a small gap.
